Francesco Vezzoli in conversation with Donatien Grau for BookCity Milano 2026

November 27, 2026 at 6 pm | Fondazione Luigi Rovati, Milan, Italy

Almine Rech is pleased to announce that Francesco Vezzoli will take part in BookCity Milano 2026 at Fondazione Luigi Rovati, Milan, Italy. On Friday, November 27, 2026 at 6 pm, the artist will be in conversation with Donatien Grau on the occasion of the presentation of the catalogue Victoria Mater. L'idolo e l'icona (Allemandi).

The catalogue accompanies the site-specific installation of the same title, presented in the eastern hall of the Capitolium of Brixia, Parco archeologico di Brescia romana, Brescia, Italy, from December 4, 2025 to June 21, 2026, curated by Donatien Grau. Through Francesco Vezzoli's intervention, the exhibition brings the Winged Victory of Brescia into dialogue with the Idolino of Pesaro, on loan from the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze, Italy. The encounter between the two sculptures, both icons of classicism but profoundly different in function, iconography, and historical destiny, becomes the focus of a reflection on time, memory, and the symbolic value of ancient heritage in the present.
