Pablo Picasso As Seen By Cécile Godefroy

The curator reflects on 'Vase à la fleur, Vallauris', 1951

Almine Rech is pleased to announce a new film series entitled 'As Seen By', which invites scholars, curators, critics and other cultural figures to share their perspective on an important work by one of the gallery’s artists.

Each episode focuses on a single artwork and presents a close reading shaped by the invited speaker’s expertise and personal approach. To mark the anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death this April 8, the first episode of the series features Cécile Godefroy, Art Historian and the Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Curator of Painting and Sculpture at MoMA, New York, reflecting on Picasso's Vase à la fleur, Vallauris, 1951.

By bringing together different voices, the series offers new ways of looking at works that are central to the artists’ practices and to the history of modern and contemporary art. 'As Seen By' reflects the gallery’s commitment to expanding the intellectual and educational context around its artists, creating a platform for thoughtful research and dialogue that deepens understanding of key works.
