The Polish artist Ewa Juszkiewicz has developed a distinctive visual language through a sustained engagement with the history of female portraiture. Drawing on works and subjects from the European painting tradition, she transforms its established conventions, altering or concealing the faces of the figures through fabrics, hair, flowers, leaves, and other organic forms.
