Alongside Simon’s solo exhibition 'Taryn Simon | Father Country I Do Love You' at the Guggenheim (September 18, 2026–March 14, 2027), Almine Rech New York is pleased to stage a group of her recent series, Executive Orders.
In the United States, executive orders are a privileged override switch by the president that accelerates change without any legislative intervention. In his first year back in office, Donald Trump signed 230 executive orders and more than 100 proclamations and memorandums. One by one, in a carousel of documents, a nation is pointed in a new direction. The objects in Simon’s photographs mark the distance between an office, a pen, an idea, and the real world – almost like an archeology of the present.
