"In my artistic practice, I revisit hazy personal memories as a way to explore larger cultural narratives. One such memory centers on the Belik—small, seasonal water springs in my village—created out of necessity during dry seasons when clean water was scarce. These simple, communal acts of survival were deeply intertwined with local myths that regarded nature as sacred and guarded by unseen forces. Far from mere superstition, these beliefs acted as unwritten ecological codes, preserving balance and discouraging exploitation. Through my work, I seek to bridge ancestral wisdom and contemporary understanding, using folklore and memory to reflect on environmental degradation and the fading values that once protected the land." — Roby Dwi Antono
