Joël Andrianomearisoa AU RYTHME DE NOS DÉSIRS DANSONS SUR LA VAGUE DU TEMPS

As part of the French Ministry of Culture's ‘Mondes nouveaux’ art programme, the Centre des monuments nationaux is unveiling the work AU RYTHME DE NOS DÉSIRS DANSONS SUR LA VAGUE DU TEMPS, by artist Joël Andrianomearisoa, on 18 March 2022 to mark French Language and Francophonie Week. This monumental sculpture will be open to the public until 19 March 2023, in the grounds of the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, the future Cité internationale de la langue française.

The poetic work by Joël Andrianomearisoa, AU RYTHME DE NOS DÉSIRS DANSONS SUR LA VAGUE DU TEMPS, inaugurates the ‘Mondes nouveaux’ programme, launched in June 2021 in response to the health crisis to support contemporary creativity. It brings together heritage and creativity, sculpture and words, materiality and language. In association with the Cité internationale de la langue française, facing the forest of Retz and open to the horizon, she calls on the world to put desire back in its place, against the ever-present constraints. On this site, linking the past to new visions of the world, she intends to establish a discussion and encourage new relationships between human beings. Although monumental, far from being set in stone, it reveals the possibility of a future.
