Vietnamese painter Mai Trung Thu (Kiến An, November 10, 1906 - Clichy, October 10, 1980) has been known since the late 1950s for his paintings on silk. These works have been widely reproduced and have contributed aknowledging traditional Vietnamese life during times of peace and upheaval of the Vietnam War. An amateur filmmaker and photographer, he was also a musician who expressed this passion throughout all periods of his painting.
