Lucy Bull

Lucy Bull’s abstract paintings play with dynamic texture, weight, and space that experiment with the auto-focusing power of eyes. Intuition is an inseparable part of her painting process as she builds rhythmic brushstrokes into a field of sensations. She remarked, “The marks oscillate from being imprints from the tip of my brush to more finessed and directionally specific as I start to trace these sensations.”

In 2017, Bull published an artist book, Plume, with Onestar Press, Paris, that features 67 original paintings. In 2018, she founded a table-top exhibition space “From the Desk of Lucy Bull” and has since curated regular exhibitions and performances. She has had solo and two-person exhibitions at High Art, Paris, France (2019); Smart Objects, Los Angeles, CA (2019); Queens, Los Angeles, CA (2019); Human Resources, Los Angeles (2019); and Mother Culture, online (2017), among others. Bull received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
